Hello, I’m Jenny from the Block (FKA Square)

Born & raised in California (Bay Area)

Second generation Wildcat (CSU, Chico)

Studied International Relations

Jumped aboard a ship for a semester at sea

Co-founded a NPO circa 2010 that works at the intersection of forests, food, & water

Jumped to the East Coast to work in commercial diplomacy

Returned to the West Coast to get a Master’s in International Studies at USF

Discovered a new approach to problem solving & fell in love with Design  

(I may have stalked David Kelley outside his classroom at Stanford’s D School)

Started designing products at a green tech company & worked out of a robotics lab

Dove into the world of Web 2.0

Joined Weebly to make it easy for anyone to create websites

Built brand experiences & the Creative team at Weebly

Got acquired

Joined Square as a design lead on the e-Commerce team

Led design for across a number of teams & launched fun products like this

COVID happened 😷

Launched features to help sellers keep their businesses running online

(curbside pickup, delivery, QR ordering & more)

After 10 years in SF, moved to Oakland

Currently leading design for our Online Experience team for Square Online

When I’m not building product experiences & teams…

I enjoy hanging with my two pirates-in-training (AKA children)

Running races around the globe (member of the 7 Continents Club)

And signing up for things that scare the sh*t out of me
